This project for Auckland Council Healthy Waters team has a capital value of $45M, and includes over 6km of stormwater pipelines ranging from 300-2,000mm in diameter, groundwater reaching soakpits, stream restoration and stream reclamation.

Babbage has offered field investigations, ecology, freshwater, coastal and benthic environments assessments, and assessment of outfall options.

Challenges

Challenging sea conditions to undertake field investigations. Diverse terrain with fluctuating ground levels necessitated careful pipe alignment to minimise earthworks. Vertical alignment posed a risk of negative pressure, requiring measures to ensure structural integrity.
