The New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology (NZIST) (Te Pūkenga) is New Zealand’s largest tertiary education provider, bringing together 16 institutes of technology and polytechnics into a nationwide network.
Babbage’s Building Surveying team was engaged to develop a 10-year capital asset strategy plan for NZIST for 16 polytechnics across approximately 60 campuses nationwide.
The use of complex spreadsheet formulas combined with traditional building surveying practices has delivered a high-level and detailed understanding of the conditions for approximately 1,500 buildings.
The data collected helps to formulate a proposed plan to further improve the learning environment for thousands of tertiary students and staff members.
The scale and quality of this work was a key factor in Babbage being awarded Building Consultancy Team of the Year at the 2021 RICS New Zealand Awards – recognition of our ability to deliver practical, innovative solutions on projects of national significance.
